MEMBA
MEMBA
Designed during the first quarter of 2015, this image is the calling card of a musical production duo, who fuse world sounds with imaginations of the future.
Hundreds of versions were experimented with before this figure was chosen for its cryptic character, seemingly drawing influence from all over the world but from nowhere in particular. Clean aesthetic motivations from Ishaan Chaudhary, coupled with sketches from Will Curry, allowed me to bounce back and forth between pen, paper, and adobe illustrator, sharing files across the country.
With each music release, this figure gains new color or surroundings, growing with the times.
Blue Moon
Blue Moon is the annual Literary and Arts magazine of Whitman College. In 2016, as Digital Media Editor, I redesigned the logo along with El Horsfall. Together, we found a strong, versatile image to carry the magazine forward.
An inverted water color painting creates a textural sky behind a hand drawn moon, whose singular line shapes an elegant combination of positive and negative space.
For printing on the Digital Media DVDs, we shifted the logo to red, matching the 2016 cover art. This affirmed the logo's ability to evolve and compliment future color schemes.
Adventure Mates
Adventure Mates is a PNW outdoor organization. Because “adventure is better together”, they help people of varying skill levels gain access to serious opportunities to have fun or work hard traversing the snow, waters, roads, and trails.
Common Genius
Common Genius
An artistically inclined, musical exploration called for a new name, and a new image. Here, duplicitous hexagons gained depth amongst the stars, framing letters within their shapes and imagined walls. Since 2014, Common Genius has shifted to a more natural name, but the music remains.
Deep Underground
Deep Undergound, aka DUG, is a community arts team, operating in Portland Oregon. Manifesting spaces for people of color to gather, to share poetic voices, and to craft musical stylings. Deep underground, we might find that space is the place!
Burchfield Studios
Burchfield Studios
Designed back in 2010, when some friends were recording music with very low quality equipment, they started referring to our house as “Burchfield Studios”. Since then, I adopted the name! That era was largely influenced by Banksy and Exit Through The Giftshop, so I was learning how to cut stencils and this awesome alpaca became the emblem!
